Xbox 360 S
The 2010 redesign: smaller and angular, CPU and GPU on one 45 nm chip, built-in Wi-Fi, a Kinect port and lower power draw.
Microsoft unveiled the Xbox 360 S, known as the Slim, on June 14, 2010, ahead of its E3 briefing. It shipped to US stores that same day, reached Australia on July 1 and Europe on July 16. The first model, glossy black with 250 GB, cost $299.99 or €249. In August a matte model with 4 GB of internal storage followed at $199.99, replacing the Arcade.
The new motherboard combines the CPU and GPU in one 45 nm chip under a single heatsink. It draws roughly half the power of the original board and runs quieter. It adds 802.11n Wi-Fi, optical audio out, five USB ports and a dedicated Kinect port, and drops the memory card slots. The hard drive sits in an internal bay. It weighs 2.9 kg. In August 2011 Microsoft dropped the glossy finish in favour of matte black.
