Game Boy Advance SP (AGS-101)
SP revision with a brighter backlit screen and two brightness levels instead of a frontlight.
Nintendo released this revision in North America on September 19, 2005, shortly after the Game Boy Micro. It replaces the frontlight with a brighter backlight, and the button that used to switch the light on and off now picks between two levels, Normal and Bright, with no off setting. It is identified by the AGS-101 number on the base and, in North America, by the brighter-screen notice on the box.
The screen was well received, though some complained about slower pixel response and colours that change the look of older games. In North America it came in Pearl Blue, Pearl Pink and Graphite, and it had a very limited European release in 2006. It was Nintendo's last handheld to play Game Boy and Game Boy Color games in North America and Europe.
