PlayStation Classic

2018 miniature console, 45% smaller than the original, with 20 preinstalled games running through emulation.

Sony announced the PlayStation Classic at the Tokyo Game Show in September 2018 and released it on December 3, the 24th anniversary of the original console. It is a dedicated console, 45% smaller than the PlayStation, with 20 preinstalled games running on the open-source PCSX emulator. It ships with two wired replicas of the original controller, without analog sticks, plus an HDMI cable and a USB cable. Inside is a quad-core MediaTek MT8167a chip at 1.5 GHz, 1 GB of DDR3 and 16 GB of eMMC storage.

Critics received it poorly and compared it unfavorably with the NES and Super NES Classic Editions. They criticized the small game selection, the interface, the emulation quality, the use of PAL versions for some games, the stick-less controller and the price; only its design drew praise. Some of the included games vary by region. It sold poorly.
