PlayStation 5 Pro

2024 model with a GPU about 45% faster, PSSR upscaling, a 2 TB SSD, Wi-Fi 7 and 8K output, sold without a disc drive.

Sony announced the PS5 Pro on September 10, 2024, and released it worldwide on November 7 at US$699, £699 and €799. Its three main upgrades are a GPU about 45% faster, ray tracing twice as fast, and PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution), a deep learning-based image upscaler. It ships with a 2 TB SSD, Wi-Fi 7 and 8K output, but without a disc drive or vertical stand, which are sold separately.

Games can be patched to use the Pro's features, and Game Boost raises the resolution of around 8,500 PS4 games. The price placed it among the most expensive consoles ever once inflation is counted, and second in the PlayStation line after the original PS3. Rolling Stone described an overwhelmingly negative response. Sony president Hiroki Totoki said in November 2024 that the price had not hurt sales, since the model targeted dedicated players. System update 13.00, released in March 2026, added enhanced PSSR.
