PlayStation 5 Slim

Smaller PS5 and Digital Edition models that replaced the originals in November 2023, with 1 TB of storage and two front USB-C ports.

Sony announced revised versions of the PS5 and the Digital Edition in October 2023; they went on sale in November and replaced the original models. They are commonly called the PS5 Slim. Both are smaller: the disc model measures 358 × 216 × 96 mm and weighs 3.9 kg, while the digital model is 80 mm wide and weighs 2.6 kg. The front USB-A port became a second USB-C port, though it still runs at USB 2.0 speed. Both versions launched with 1 TB of storage.

The new Digital Edition cost $50 more than the original in the US. Sony sells an $80 Ultra HD Blu-ray drive separately; once attached, it makes the digital model functionally and visually equal to the standard one, and its first setup needs an internet connection. From September 2025 the Digital Edition dropped from 1 TB to 825 GB. The change reached Europe without notice on September 13 and the US on October 3, and was announced in Japan on November 11.
