PlayStation TV (PS Vita TV)
Home console version of the Vita with no screen, connecting to a TV over HDMI and played with a DualShock 3 or 4.
The PlayStation TV (VTE-1000), called PS Vita TV in Japan and Asia, is a home version of the Vita about the size of a deck of cards: 6.5 × 10.5 cm. It connects to a TV over HDMI and is played with a DualShock 3 or, from firmware 3.10, a DualShock 4. It launched in Japan on November 14, 2013, at ¥9,954, in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong on January 16, 2014, in North America on October 14, 2014, and in Europe on November 14, 2014.
It plays Vita, PSP and PlayStation games, streams PS4 games through Remote Play and PS3 games through PlayStation Now. Games that rely on the touchscreen, gyroscope, camera or microphone do not work, and Sony used a whitelist that left out titles such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush, which drew most of the criticism. It won the 2014 Good Design Award alongside the PS4. Its European price fell to €59.99, and Sony stopped shipping it to the Americas and Europe at the end of 2015.
