Wii Mini

Smaller 2012 Wii with a top-loading drive and black and red finish, without internet access, SD slot or GameCube support.

The Wii Mini is a smaller redesign with a top-loading disc drive. Besides losing GameCube support, it drops Wi-Fi and online access, the SD card slot, and 480p and component output. Matt Ryan of Nintendo of Canada said features were cut to lower the price and target people who had no Wii yet or wanted a second one. It is matte black with a red border and comes with a red Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk.

It launched exclusively in Canada on December 7, 2012, at CA$99.99. It reached Europe in March 2013 and the United States on November 17, 2013, where every launch bundle included Mario Kart Wii; in Canada and Europe it shipped without a game. Nintendo marketed it alongside Nintendo Selects titles. Critics liked the price but saw it as inferior to the original model because it lacked online play and GameCube compatibility.
