Nintendo DSi XL

Larger DSi with 4.2-inch screens and wider viewing angles; sold in Japan as the DSi LL.

It grew out of a large DS Lite with 3.8-inch screens that Nintendo had ready for mass production in 2007, until Satoru Iwata put it on hold. After finishing the DSi, Masato Kuwahara led the larger version, announced on October 29, 2009. Names considered included DSi Comfort and DSi Premium; in Japan it was sold as the DSi LL. It launched there on November 21, 2009, in Europe on March 5, 2010 and in North America on March 28.

It is the longest, widest and heaviest model in the family: 161 × 91.4 × 21.2 mm and 314 grams. Its 4.2-inch screens share the DSi's resolution but have wider viewing angles so others can follow the game. The battery lasts 13 to 17 hours at the lowest brightness, and the hinge also stops at 120 degrees for table-top use. It comes with two styluses, one thick and pen-like, and has Flipnote Studio and Nintendo DSi Browser pre-installed.
