Nintendo DS Lite

Slimmer, lighter redesign with brighter screens, four brightness levels and longer battery life; it keeps the Game Boy Advance slot.

Nintendo announced the DS Lite on January 26, 2006 and launched it in Japan on March 2 for ¥16,800. Demand caused shortages through much of 2006 and 2007, and some retailers sold it above list price. It reached Australia on June 1, North America on June 11 and Europe on June 23, 2006. In South Korea it was the first release from Nintendo of Korea, on January 18, 2007.

It keeps every feature of the original DS, including the Game Boy Advance slot, in a more compact case: 133 × 73.9 × 21.5 mm and 218 grams, against 275 grams for the first model. The screens are brighter, with four brightness levels, and the 1000 mAh battery gives 15 to 19 hours at the lowest setting. The stylus is longer and thicker, power moves to a switch, and the charger differs from the DS and Game Boy Advance SP one.
