Super Nintendo (PAL)
European and Australian version using the Super Famicom design, with PAL output and many country variants.
Most PAL Super Nintendos use the Super Famicom design, changing only the labels and controller cable length. They are built for 50 Hz PAL televisions and include regional lockout that blocks NTSC cartridges from the Americas, Japan and South Korea. Out-of-region games also run at a different speed. Unlike NTSC consoles, they provide no composite sync on the Multi Out port, so their RGB signal is slightly less clean.
It is the version with the most models. There are variants for Italy, France and the UK, each in two versions; for the Nordic countries and Australia; and the SNSP-001A(FRG), labelled differently by market: SNSP-ESP in Spain, SNSP-NOE in Germany, SNSP-HOL in the Netherlands and SNSP-GPO in Greece, among others. Consoles built from late 1994 onward use the boards known as "1CHIP", which produce a sharper picture.
