New Nintendo 2DS XL

The family's final model: New 3DS hardware without 3D in a folding design; called New 2DS LL in Japan.

Nintendo unveiled it on April 27, 2017 as the sixth and final model in the family; in Japan it was called the New Nintendo 2DS LL. It reached North America and Europe on July 28, 2017. It pairs New Nintendo 3DS hardware, including the faster processor, C-Stick, ZL and ZR buttons and NFC, with the 2DS's lack of 3D, but returns to a folding design. It can play New 3DS exclusives such as Fire Emblem Warriors.

The camera and microphone move to the hinge, and the speakers to the lower half. One flap covers both the game card slot and the microSD slot, which no longer needs tools. Nintendo rates the battery at 3.5 to 5.5 hours with 3DS games. IGN saw it as a clear improvement over the 2DS, though it noted washed-out screens and muffled speakers. It was discontinued in North America on September 16, 2020.
