New Nintendo 3DS

Revision with a quad-core processor, 256 MB RAM, C-Stick, ZL and ZR buttons, NFC for amiibo, stable 3D and swappable faceplates.

Nintendo unveiled the New Nintendo 3DS and its XL version in a Japanese Nintendo Direct on August 29, 2014. They launched in Japan on October 11, 2014, in Australia and New Zealand on November 21, and at retail in Europe and North America on February 13, 2015. Only the XL reached North America at first; the smaller model went on sale there on September 25, 2015 in an Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer bundle.

It has a quad-core processor, 256 MB of RAM, NFC for amiibo, a C-Stick, ZL and ZR buttons, Super Famicom-style coloured face buttons and face-tracking stable 3D. It uses microSD cards stored under the back cover, its screen is 1.2 times the size of the original 3DS's, and it takes interchangeable faceplates. Some games, such as Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, run only on this line. Production ended in Japan in July 2017.
