Nintendo 3DS XL
Larger model with screens 90% bigger, at 4.88 and 4.18 inches, and a higher-capacity battery; called 3DS LL in Japan.
After rumours reported by Nikkei, Nintendo announced the 3DS XL on June 21, 2012 in a Nintendo Direct. In Japan it was called the 3DS LL and launched on July 28, 2012 for ¥18,900, the same day as in Europe; North America followed on August 19 at US$199.99 and Australia on August 23. Its launch coincided with New Super Mario Bros. 2, the first 3DS game sold both at retail and as a download.
Its screens are 90% larger, at 4.88 and 4.18 inches, with the same resolution as the original and therefore lower pixel density. It weighs about 336 grams, measures 156 × 93 × 22 mm, and its 1750 mAh battery lasts 3.5 to 6.5 hours with 3DS games. The stylus is fixed at 93 mm, and the charging cradle was sold separately. It got its own version of the Circle Pad Pro accessory, the Circle Pad Pro XL.
