PSP-2000 (Slim & Lite)

Thinner, lighter 2007 revision (189 grams) with TV video output, 64 MB of memory with a UMD cache and no infrared port.

Sony announced the PSP-2000 at E3 2007 and sold it in some regions as the PSP Slim & Lite. It launched in Hong Kong on August 30, 2007, and worldwide in September: on the 5th in Europe and the 6th in North America. It weighs 189 grams instead of 280 and is 18.6 mm thick instead of 23. Its serial port gained video output over composite, S-Video, component and D-Terminal, with games at 480p over the last two.

Memory doubles to 64 MB, part of it used as a cache to cut UMD loading times and speed up the web browser. Wi-Fi is improved, the UMD drive is simplified and the screen is thinner and brighter, but the infrared port and two-pin charging dock are gone. To slim the unit down, the battery drops from 1800 to 1200 mAh; older batteries still work, although their cover does not fit. In March 2008 Sony released a kit in Japan with a 2200 mAh battery and matching covers.
