PSP Go

2009 model with a 3.8-inch sliding screen, 16 GB of built-in storage and Bluetooth, with no UMD drive: downloaded games only.

The PSP Go (PSP-N1000) was revealed ahead of E3 2009 on Sony's Qore video service and launched on October 1, 2009, in North America and Europe at $249 and €250, and shortly afterwards in Japan. It breaks with the earlier design: a 3.8-inch screen slides up to reveal the controls. It is 43% lighter and 56% smaller than the PSP-1000. There is no UMD drive; games bought from the PlayStation Store are stored in 16 GB of internal memory, expandable with a Memory Stick Micro.

It adds Bluetooth for headsets and PS3 controllers, a menu option to suspend a game, and a proprietary connector in place of Mini USB. Reviewers questioned the price, the analog stick's placement next to the D-pad and the break with older accessories, while praising the screen. Kaz Hirai blamed its weak performance on the price and piracy. Sony cut it to $199 in October 2010, and on April 20, 2011, announced it would stop selling it outside North America to focus on the PS Vita.
