Famicom Titler
1989 Sharp Famicom for video production, with internal RGB and S-Video output, a keyboard and a microphone.
Also known as the Famicom Editor, it was released by Sharp in 1989, only in Japan, at ¥43,000. It addressed the need to capture direct game footage, which then required specialised equipment. It is the only commercial Famicom that generates RGB video internally, thanks to a variant of the graphics chip, and the only one with S-Video output, alongside composite video. Its picture is noticeably sharper than other models.
It includes a keyboard and a pressure-sensitive touchpad for adding subtitles over gameplay and doing basic edits, plus a microphone for narration. It went largely unnoticed at the time, but today it draws collectors and modders for its RGB signal, shared only with the VS. System and PlayChoice-10 arcade units and the Sharp C1 television, and because it is easy to modify for true RGB output.
