Nintendo Entertainment System (carga frontal)
Western redesign in grey, black and red, with VCR-style front loading and the 10NES lockout chip.
Nintendo first tried to market the Famicom abroad through Atari, but the deal collapsed in 1983. Lance Barr and Don James then turned it into the Advanced Video System, with a keyboard, tape drive and infrared wireless controllers, which drew a lukewarm response at the Winter CES in January 1985. A cost-reduced version was shown at that year's Summer CES as the Nintendo Entertainment System.
The final grey, black and red design loads cartridges from the front under a hinged door, like a VCR, to set it apart from earlier consoles. The controllers are detachable and the console carries the 10NES lockout chip. Gail Tilden called the cartridges "Game Paks" and the console the "Control Deck". Of the AVS add-ons only the light gun survived, as the Zapper, alongside the R.O.B. robot. It debuted in New York on October 18, 1985.
