Twin Famicom
Sharp console combining the Famicom and Famicom Disk System in one unit. Released only in Japan in 1986.
The Twin Famicom is a Sharp console, licensed by Nintendo, that combines the Famicom and Famicom Disk System in a single unit. It was released only in Japan on July 1, 1986, at ¥32,000, in red with black highlights and black with red highlights. A second version arrived in 1987 with a slightly different case, turbo controllers and two more colour schemes: black and green, and red and beige. It has slots for cartridges and disks, with a switch to select the format.
Besides the usual Famicom expansion port on the right side, it adds three more, one next to it and two hidden under a rear cover, which no known peripheral uses. It generates an NTSC signal and outputs composite video and mono audio over RCA connectors, which were rare in Japan at the time, and includes an external RF modulator for antenna connections. Like the original Famicom, its two controllers are hardwired.
